B i o g r a p h y
MELANIE is a faculty member at the University of Texas Arlington, teaching Communication Studies since 2001. Her focus is speech performance, with classes in Voice and Diction and Oral Interpretation (both Adult and Children’s literature) and Reader’s Theatre. She also teaches Broadcast Announcing in the Broadcast Communication sequence. Melanie frequently voices anime characters with Funimation and is best known for her role as Mrs. Shimura in Kodocha.
In the Fall of 2014, in cooperation with UTA, she designed and launched one of the handful of American University online Voice and Diction classes.
She has been a proud member of the acting and directing community in the Dallas/Fort Worth area since 1990, working with Theatre Arlington, Theatre Three, WaterTower Theatre, ONSTAGE in Bedford and Creative Arts Theatre and School, to name a few. She has also performed at WaterTower Theatre’s “Out of the Loop” festival. Her most recent directorial projects have included Annie, Of Mice and Men, Enchanted April, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown and Miracle on South Division Street. She has also directed for Orlando's Fringe Festival and written award winning shows for Viking Cruise lines.
She partners with area high schools as a Professional In-Service instructor for Performing Arts faculty and One Act Play Clinician for the University Interscholastic League of Texas.
